Orlando Pirates Women’s Football Club and Mother City Girls are established. Both cater for black women. But their existence is short lived.

1970-90

Women's football continues to grow.

1993

Banyana Banyana play their first international game.

2011

Banyana Banyana qualify for the Olympics for the first time.

2019

Banyana Banyana make their World Cup debut.
