Rugby World Cup 2019

Live sport on TV this weekend: Here’s your weekend watch guide

Need to get your head around what sport is on what time and when over the weekend? Fret not, we’ve got this guide handy for you so you can plan your live sport watching weekend with ease.

Rugby World Cup

England and New Zealand have arguably been world rugby’s two most consistent teams over the last four years. They meet at Yokohama’s International Stadium on Saturday morning in what should be a riveting Rugby World Cup semifinal.

Come Sunday’s showdown with Wales at the same venue, the Springboks will know all the permutations for the second semifinal. Having finished third at the 2015 World Cup, the Boks will no doubt be desperate for an improved outcome this time.

Not near a TV? No problem. We have a Rugby World Cup semi-final live score centre for you right here.

PSL

The weekend starts off with two 20:00 Friday night clashes as Cape Town City host Maritzburg United and SuperSport United welcome Black Leopards.

Saturday’s two 15:30 matches are both repeats of recent Telkom Knockout last 16 ties. Golden Arrows host Polokwane City once more, while Orlando Pirates face Stellenbosch again — but this time away from home.

Highlands Park then host Chippa in the late kick-off before two crucial Sunday afternoon fixtures.

Baroka and AmaZulu face off in a match which could have consequences in the relegation battle, while Mamelodi Sundowns host Kaizer Chiefs at Loftus Versfeld in a key match between two title challengers.

Sundowns trail Chiefs by two points with a game in hand at the top of the table heading into the clash. Tickets are already sold out.

La Liga

Real Madrid and Barcelona are both out of action this weekend, having initially been scheduled to play El Clasico. The match was suspended until 18 December by the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) due to fears of civil unrest.

As a result, the flock of clubs hot on the tail of the two giants have an opportunity to heap pressure onto them. Notably, Atlético Madrid will be in action on Saturday night against Athletic Bilbao and Sevilla on Sunday against Getafe.

English Premier League

Having drawn at Old Trafford last weekend, Liverpool face another major test in the Premier League title race when they host Tottenham on Sunday evening.

By then, Manchester City will already have played Aston Villa in the early Saturday kick-off, meaning that the Reds’ lead could potentially be down to three points. Spurs, meanwhile, are still trying to recapture the magic of seasons past.

Elsewhere, Chelsea visit Burnley on Saturday evening, and in two Sunday evening kick-offs, Arsenal play host to Crystal Palace and Manchester United travel to Norwich City.

Serie A

Table-topping Juventus travel to Lecce in an early Saturday kick-off, while closest challengers Inter Milan host Parma directly afterwards.

Napoli head into the weekend off the back of a thrilling UEFA Champions League win over Red Bull Salzburg and will want to kick on as they visit SPAL on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Atalanta will look to return to winning ways at home to Udinese after suffering a 5-1 drubbing at the hands of a Raheem Sterling-inspired Manchester City.

Sunday evening sees Roma host Milan in what should be an entertaining game between two sleeping giants of Italian football. The weekend will finish off with Fiorentina hosting Lazio in a match which could affect the push for European places.

PRO14

Cheetahs will look to continue their perfect record in the PRO14 as they visit Connacht on Saturday evening.

First, however, the Southern Kings will hope to finally pick up their first win of the campaign away to Benetton in a 16:00 SAST kick-off. Fortunately for the Eastern Cape outfit, their hosts haven’t won yet either in 2019-20.
