Real Kings will chase an upset win in the first Nedbank Cup quarterfinal when they host Bidvest Wits at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Friday 13 March 2020, kick-off at 20:00 CAT.
Kings earned their place in the final eight thanks to victories over Steenberg United (preliminaries), Passion FC (last 32) and Mbombela United (last 16), with Lesvin Stoffels and Diego Brown scoring the goals in the latter game.
They come into the clash in solid form: three games unbeaten across all competitions, with their last outing a 1-0 home win over Jomo Cosmos in the GladAfrica Championship this past weekend.
Wits, meanwhile, have overcome successive fellow top-flight opponents in the Nedbank Cup thus far. They first got the better of Orlando Pirates via penalties (after a thrilling 3-3 draw), before goals from Thulani Hlatshwayo and Phatutshedzo Nange saw them past Chippa United 2-0.
Gavin Hunt’s charges are chasing a first appearance in the semifinals of this competition since 2013/14, when they reached the final and were beaten 3-1 by Orlando Pirates.
The Clever Boys come into the clash on the back of 1-0 win over Black Leopards in a midweek league clash, with Terrence Dzvukamanja netting the only goal of the game.
In head-to-head terms, this will be a first competitive meeting of Real Kings and Bidvest Wits. The winners will advance to the Nedbank Cup semifinals, which are set to be played on the weekend of April 18-19.
