A new Sims 4 base game update will include ladders

Before the release of The Sims 4 Eco Lifestyle, a base game update will bring ladders to everyone.

Whew. It’s been quite a wild few days in Sims land. From the news that Nifty Knitting will come with a “metal” radio station to a fake leak and eventually the confirmation of a new expansion called Eco Lifestyle. There have been a lot of mixed emotions over the last 48 hours or so. Well hold on to your plumbobs because there’s one more bit of news that’s worth noting.

The Sims 4 base game update will include ladders

Eagle-eyed Simmers spotted ladders in the Eco Lifestyle trailer. If you missed them, here’s a quick look.

They look quite a lot like the deck ladders which came with Island Living. But those were exclusive to water lots. These are new… and they are coming to the base game in the patch which will ship before the release of The Sims 4: Eco Lifestyle on 5 June 2020.

After a big reveal, Sim Gurus often spend some time on Twitter answering questions and Sim Guru George revealed that the ladders from the trailer will come to The Sims 4 base game prior to the release of the franchise’s next expansion pack.

Where can you use ladders in The Sims 4?

With ladders confirmed for a base game update in The Sims 4 – and a variant thereof coming to Eco Lifestyle – the only question remaining is whether they can be used to build inside, too.

There’s an answer over on Twitter for that.

You’ll be able to use ladders in The Sims 4 both inside and outside. What that might mean for build mode, we’re yet to figure out. It could make building those split level lofts much more interesting .

It’s not clear when the patch with the ladder update will ship just yet, but we do know that there are many more features to be revealed.
