Sims 4 Eco Lifestyle: New Eco footprint UI coming with expansion

The Sims 4 Eco Lifestyle will introduce an intuitive Eco Footprint into the game's UI.

The Sims 4 team are taking a deep dive into the gameplay functionality of the upcoming Sims 4 Eco Lifestyle expansion.

One of the big selling points is the thew “Eco Footprint” gameplay, which has been added to the game’s UI and will be available in all worlds. This is the functionality that will bring pollution (and green, green grass) to all worlds (except holiday worlds and Strangerville) in the game.

Each object in build mode will also impact the game’s Eco Footprint, which will ultimately impact the way the world looks. All items from previous packs have been updated to have their own eco-footprint. As an example, the base game rocket is heavily industrialized, because it’s a steampunk aesthetic. So, launching rockets from your yard “is not eco friendly”. Off-the grid has also been given its own category.

We’ve had our first look at how the UI for the Eco Footprint. This screenshot from the live stream shows the integration into the UI. Each decision your Sims make will impact this. Everything from the choice of materials you choose to build to how you choose to power your Sims’ homes.

The new Eco Footprint form The Sims 4 Eco Lifestyle expansion pack is set per neighbourhood. That means you have to improve each neighbourhood – and world – on its own, if you choose to play with with it.
