Super Rugby Aotearoa continues this weekend with the third round of action between the five New Zealand franchises, with the hot stepping Blues and the 2019 champions, the Crusaders, playing host to familiar foes.
Table-topping Blues will host the Highlanders in Saturday’s kick off at 9:05 SAST at Eden Park.
The Highlanders have won 11 of their last 15 Super Rugby matches against the Blues, although just four of those 11 wins have been by a double-digit margin. They head into their match against the Blues off a bye, while the hosts are yet to have their rest week.
Their hot-form so far means the Blues are nailed on favourites to keep their winning streak in tact – with a good margin to spare, too.
On Sunday, the Crusaders will look to pick up where they left off last weekend, following their 25-39 trouncing of the Hurricanes on home turf. They welcome the winless Chiefs, with Warren Gatland’s men desperate for some direction.
But their poor form and the Crusaders’ ability to… well… do Crusaders things… leaves them with grim prospects of points this weekend.
Prediction methodology explained
The expected win percentage is based off publicly available odds. For example, if a team’s odds are 2.30, the expected chance of winning is 43%. If the odds are 1.62 the expected chance of winning is 62% and so on. These are accurate at the time of writing but are subject to change.
The predicted points margin draws on calculations from by a New Zealand statistician.
