Ever since the new Sims 4 game pack icon leaked, we just haven’t been able to shake the thought that what if it is a winter-related theme. While that started looking increasingly unlikely the more speculation swelled in favour of a Star Wars crossover, we were reminded of something earlier in the year when the Tiny Living Stuff Pack dropped.
All the way back in January, there was a Sims 4 community survey which many believed hinted about an upcoming winter wonderland pack.
In that survey, one of the questions asked Simmers to rate what appeared to be resort-related activities. The options included designing and running a resort which included the management of employees and taking care of guests. The goal would be for the resort to earn five-stars.
We do know that the next game pack will be a ‘major first‘ as per the six-month roadmap. While Sims have been able to visit hotels and build them, it hasn’t been done in a large scale winter resort-type way.
Before we go any further, remember that this is all speculation until we have official confirmation.
Right. Let’s make a case for a winter resort game pack.
Sims 4 leaked game pack icon: Hints at a winter-resort
Let’s start back when Tiny Living dropped its trailer.
Both in the trailer and the subsequent objects and pre-designed rooms, there were loads of winter-related motifs – specifically Nordic related. That theme continued with Eco Living, too. While we didn’t spot quite as many hidden hints in the latest Nifty Knitting Stuff Pack, Sims pretty much knit only winter stuff. Let’s take a look at some of the hints we spotted.
We are analysing both the objects as well as their descriptions here.
Things that specifically standout is the description of the Coat Hooks used in the Nifty Knitting room. These have existed for a while, but as with all speculation posts – you can find whatever you’re looking for. The description mentions “mount” – like a mountain.
Another object name that leaps out is Red Herring. It stands out because herring in various forms is a popular meal in Scandavia and Nordic regions and the “Normandic Light” was chosen as a fixture in one of the rooms that came with Eco Living.
We can’t quite place the scrolls which Sim Guru George hinted at on Twitter recently and which are visible and present on the shelf in the Nifty Knitting room, but we can make sense of the Pig Chef hint – in the context of a resort. The description says “wipe his slate clean” – like daily specials at a restaurant or resort. It’s probably a bit of a reach, but one of the connections we can make with the scrolls, is the Elder Scrolls in the Nordic Empire (again with that…) from Skyrim Conquests.
Nifty Knitting reminiscing about snow hint?
Perhaps the most obvious hint of all is the grandma in the Nifty Knitting trailer thinking about going through the snow in a sleigh – an activity that does not currently exist for Sims. There were similar hints before – most notably prior to the release and announcement of Island Living.
But what about the leaked game pack icon?
What if the beam we are seeing is actually the northern lights? The building is an observatory/igloo hotel/telescope. The three dots could be the Winter Triangle of stars which includes Sirus – the brightest star in the night sky.
As per Wikipedia:
The Winter Triangle is an astronomical asterism formed from three of the brightest stars in the winter sky. It is an imaginary equilateral triangle drawn on the celestial sphere, with its defining vertices at Sirius, Betelgeuse, and Procyon, the primary stars in the three constellations of Canis Major, Orion, and Canis Minor, respectively.
Something like this.
Not great, but you get the idea. Here are some other images from around the web for reference. The trees you find in the areas where a winter game pack could be set (or based around) are very similar to those found in the clothing and other “hints” – if they are hints.
