The ability to express yourself through building in The Sims 4 is one of the best parts of the game. There are some incredibly talented builders who share their creations with other players, like this one who created a semi-replica of Cape Town’s Mount Nelson.
But things are not always so serious. Sometimes you just want to have a little bit of fun. And it is when players let their creativity run wild that they deliver their best work.

Sure, some of these builds might not be liveable, but does that really matter when Sims 4 building is an art form in itself? For many players, new and old, the Sims 4 was a much-needed distraction during the recent lockdown.
For me personally, The Sims 4 was a tremendous help. It offered an outlet for frustrations and helped channel my energy into something certain – during a time where absolutely nothing was certain.
So while The Sims 4 has some annoying things about it, the good bits far outweigh the bad. And for that, the game – or more broadly, the Sims franchise – will always be my favourite game.
One particular build endeavour I enjoyed during the lockdown was creating a likeness of SpongeBob SquarePants without using any Sims 4 custom content or mods. In all his glory and with a resized pineapple ( a guide on resizing objects in The Sims 4 can be found over here, by the way) on his head, here it is.
A few shapes created with a fence tool and filled in with tiles and carpets made this a super simple build – surprisingly. Could I have spent my time doing more productive things? Probably. Do I regret building this? absolutely not.
But I am not the only one who has had the idea of such an abstract creation. The Sims 4 is all about sharing, so I had a bit of a browse through the gallery and I present to you some other Spongebob inspired builds. This list will keep growing as more of these masterpieces are uncovered.
And there is also this exceptional build by TracyLoren. These are liveable houses in The Sims 4 – not just some abstract folly that I created.
