It's a tricky outing for both Golden Arrows and Chippa United when the two sides meet in the final PSL league fixture of the season…
Chippa United can confirm their place in PSL for next season if they get a positive result against Golden Arrows in the final PSL league fixture of the season on Saturday. Kick off is at 15:30 South African time.
While not directly threatened, Chippa remain in mathematical danger of finishing in the relegation playoff spot after they were beaten 1-0 by PSL log leaders Kaizer Chiefs on Wednesday.
The Chilli Boys have claimed 16 points from 14 home matches so far this season.
Arrows can neither be relegated nor finish in the top eight, after they racked up an eighth PSL fixture without a win, drawing 0-0 to Bloemfontein Celtic in the penultimate PSL fixture of the season.
Abafana Bes’thende have claimed just 11 points from 14 away matches in the 2019/20 campaign.
Prediction methodology explained
The expected win percentage is based off publicly available odds. For example, if a team’s odds are 2.30, the expected chance of winning is 43%. If the odds are 1.62 the expected chance of winning is 62% and so on. These are accurate at the time of writing but are subject to change. Where there is no value listed, the odds were not available at the time of writing.
In head-to-head stats, Arrows and Chippa have met in 11 league matches since 2012/13. Abafana Bes’thende have claimed four wins compared to one for the Chilli Boys, while six matches have ended in draws.
The Eastern Cape side has yet to win at home in the rivalry, with four draws and one loss in five matches as hosts.
When the teams met earlier this season, at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in August 2019, Arrows claimed a 2-1 home win thanks to goals from Nduduzo Sibiya and Knox Mutizwa.
The result broke a run of five successive draws between the clubs.
