Yes, there is another Sims 4 expansion pack coming in 2020

There will be another Sims 4 expansion pack released in 2020. The second of the year after Eco Lifestyle.

Despite 2020 feeling like it has lasted for 2020 years, things are winding down. That means some of the big games will soon be releasing their end-of-year holiday content.

It’s no different for The Sims 4. The popular simulation franchise has already released two stuff packs (Tiny Living and Nifty Knitting), an expansion pack (Eco Lifestyle) and a game pack (Journey to Batuu) this year, but fans are in for a few more treats.

The team recently revealed that an announcement of the new Sims 4 expansion is imminent. While they did not explicitly confirm that the release date will be in 2020, it is unlikely that the pack will only drop next year.

Update: Drum roll, please – the next Sims 4 expansion pack for 2020 is called The Sims 4: Snowy Escape. It will be released on 13 November 2020.

Another Sims 4 Expansion Pack In 2020

The next Sims 4 expansion pack: What we know

In 2019, the Sims 4 released two expansion packs Island Living and Discover University. Island Living was released on 21 June for PC and Discover University was out on 15 November for PC.

The latest Sims 4 expansion, Eco Lifestyle, was released for both PC and console on 5 June 2020. The team recently revealed that they will make an announcement about the game’s new expansion pack for 2020 in a few weeks.

Going by previous Sims 4 expansion pack release dates, it is reasonable to expect a release around mid to late November of this year. With expansion packs, the team usually announces the release about a month in advance to allow for things like a deep dive live stream to look at the gameplay elements.

We also know that the next Sims 4 expansion for 2020 has been in the works since last year. While there have been quite a few community surveys this year, the content in that pack might not directly relate to the new expansion.

The new Sims 4 expansion: Possible theme ideas

Recently, there was a reported “leak” for the next expansion, claiming that the theme is “Murder at the Manor”. That has prove to be totally false – as many suspected.

We have previously looked at some possible theme ideas for the new Sims expansion pack. One theme that has come through strongly is a possible winter vacation expansion pack.

Another possibility for the new Sims 4 expansion is a heroes and villains or a crime and justice sort of pack. This could see the return of the burglar NPC, a character many players are surprised has not been added to the fourth edition of the popular simulation franchise.

Finally, there is also a good case to be made for a “Town Life” Sims 4 expansion pack. The recent addition of large debug building shells would fit with elements form a previous survey which asked players how they would feel about an expansion pack that allowed them to build their own town.

While it is unlikely that The Sims 4 will ever see a complete “create your own world” option, building a town might be possible.

What the next Sims 4 expansion pack is not

Finally, we know for certain that the new Sims 4 expansion will not be a farming pack, as announced by the team. The pack will also not feature updated babies, freed from their cribs and it won’t feature bunk beds.

That doesn’t mean a base game update won’t have these features in future, though.
