The Sims 4 latest sale alert: Over 50% on Origin until 20 October

There’s a huge sale on almost all of The Sims 4’s packs and the base game, too.

Origin is running a huge sale on The Sims 4 base game and most of the game’s expansion, game and stuff packs until 20 October 2020.10.10

The Sims 4 base game is discounted by up to 66% while game and stuff packs are discounted by 33%.

Some expansion packs for The Sims 4 have been discounted by over half. The most recent expansion, The Sims 4 Eco Lifestyle, is only on sale at a 33% discount and the latest game pack, The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu is not on sale at all.

The Sims 4, the fourth instalment of the popular simulation franchise, has been on the go for over six years. A new expansion pack is set to be announced before the end of the year with another stuff pack also likely to be announced some time in the near future.

It has been a somewhat turbulent year for the game. Despite player numbers reportedly exceeding over 30 million, players were left disappointed with a lacklustre 20th-anniversary celebration of the franchise and an equally underwhelming sixth birthday for The Sims 4.

The recently released Star Wars game pack was not well-received by the majority of players – somewhat unsurprising considering a previous poll found it was last on the list of themes players are interested in.

Players remain frustrated that the game does not offer some features such as “freed babies”, cars, bunk beds or open worlds. While there is another expansion pack expected soon, the Sims 4 team made it clear that this expansion would not feature some of the more-requested content – like bunk beds.

The game’s developers have also been heavily criticised for lack of representation due to the limited skin tones available to players. The team has vowed to address the issue later in the year, though, with a mammoth update that will include over 100 new skin tones and a slider for further customisation options.

Most recently, The Sims 4 began making amends, though. The most recent free update included a fix for existing in-game hairstyles and skin tones as well as free content ib celebration of Hispanic History month.

As for the open world, well, as with everything The Sims 4 lacks, there is now a mod for that – and it includes drivable cars, too.
