If you’re stocking up on The Sims 4 Expansion Packs, you might be wondering when the next one is set to drop. You’re not alone in your wondering. We know that there is an Expansion Pack in its final stages of development, but chances are that it won’t be released for some time. We also know that there will be a knitting themed Stuff Pack being voted on by the community. But that won’t be until much later in the year.
So, when exactly might we get another pack? Many Simmers had hoped there would be an announcement on what’s to come after the franchise celebrated its 20th anniversary, but things have been eerily quiet from the Gurus. The global COVID-19 pandemic has further added to uncertainty.
What’s a Simmer to do, then? Like any good Strangerville mystery, or somebody playing the detective career, we can only speculate on when the next Sims 4 pack will release by looking for some clues. Let’s start with the most obvious one. Here’s how many packs The Sims 4 have released each year since the game was first released. These include all packs (expansion, game and stuff).
The Sims 4: Total packs released by year
Obviously 2020 is to the time of writing of this post.
There are no real clues in this graph to suggest when the next pack might be released or even announced. But what about months in which packs are released?
The Sims 4: Months in which packs are released
This includes all DLC packs.
Well, now that’s a bit more interesting. There’s never been a pack release in April (although, there is a first time for everything). March has seen three packs released. One of those was The Sims 4: Get To Work Expansion Pack and the other two were both Stuff Packs (Bowling Night and My First Pet, respectively). Two of those, Get To Work and Bowling Night released late in March for PC. February (which has come and gone) has had three pack releases, most recently The Sims 4: StrangerVille Game Pack in 2019. Isn’t that ironic considering this post? There was a Game Pack released in February in 2018, too (Jungle Adventure). The other February release was The Sims 4: Romantic Garden Stuff Pack in 2016.
What then, can we speculate of this, intrepid Simmer? Well, we’ll put forward the following hypothesis.
- If there is going to be an announcement or a release, it will have to happen before the end of March, if the previous release timelines are kept with.
- It’s possible that there was a release planned for February, but for whatever reason, things got held up and it had to be pushed pack.
- Thus, it’s entirely possible there could be a release (possibly two?) coming in the next few weeks – possibly a game and a stuff pack.
Of course, this is merely a speculation and a theory. But with not so much as a sneaky hint from the Gurus, we have to entertain ourselves. Speaking of, if you’re in search of new content, Illogical Simmer has released a custom content Tiny Living add on pack. It’s amazing!
