The Sims 4 – and The Sims franchise as a whole – is a cult classic. It’s one of the few games that has something for everyone. And if it doesn’t have something for you, there’s probably a mod for it.
So, if you love the Sleepcasts from Headspace (the mindfulness app) and The Sims 4, this one is for you – no mods required. The global COVID-19 pandemic means that life has changed dramatically for everyone. This site tries to steer clear of the me and mine type of writing, but once in a while, it just can’t be helped. Now is one of those times.
As a freelance / business owner in the sporting niche, the pandemic decimated all regular income streams. It’s brutal and sobering. Sure, there are “human interest” sport stories to tell, but with the crisis so all-consuming, it felt almost irrelevant to pursue those. No pun intended, but I just couldn’t get into the right head space to work on those.
But I had to do something. So, for the first four weeks in after South Africa went into a hard lock down, I worked a casual job in essential services, packing grocery orders. It was great. Always being on the move meant there was little time to get swept up by the news cycle.
Slowly, though, I had to being wrestling back what my “new normal” might be. I’m fortunate enough to have a few non-sport clients and, of course, I have this little website. It was never really the intention for this site to be anything more than just a syndication feed. For sport.
But then there was no more sport. I had nothing to lose, so I started to write about my favourite game: The Sims 4. The response to some of the articles have been great – and it’s helped earn some cents to ease some of the pressures that come with having your job security wiped out.
But you’re not here for a life story, right?
Long before lockdown, the Headspace app was hugely helpful to me. Particularly for sleep. The Sleepcasts, bedtime stories for grownups of sorts, are the most delightful way to nod off, even in most anxious times.
Obviously the places in them need to be created in The Sims.
Much like The Sims offers a different perspective for every player, the Sleepcasts offer different perspectives for everyone’s imagination.
One of my favourite Sleepcasts is Rain Day Antiques. I had loads of fun building this.
