English FA Cup predictions, fixtures and results – fourth round, 22-23 January

And around we go again for the fourth round of FA Cup fixtures this weekend, starting with Friday and Saturday.

The English FA Cup reaches Round Four this weekend, with several Premier League clubs out to avoid the ignominy of crashing out to lower league opposition.

There are nine fixtures on Saturday, after Wolves attempt to put their EPL woes to one side when they travel to National League North minnows Chorley on Friday night, with the Magpies having seen off Covid-19-hit Championship side Derby in the previous round.

2019 Cup winners Manchester City have a banana skin in their sights on Saturday evening, as Pep Guardiola takes his in-form side to the rarified surroundings of Whaddon Road for a tie with Cheltenham of League Two.

It’s an all-Premier League clash that kicks off the action on Saturday, with Arsenal tackling Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium in the lunchtime game.

West Ham have been flying in the league recently and will take that form into knockout action at the London Stadium with the visit of Doncaster.

Some seaside-on-seaside action sees Brighton welcome 1953 champions Blackpool to the Amex Stadium, while Championship-bound Sheffield United host Plymouth.

There are three all-Championship clashes on Saturday as Barnsley take on Norwich, Swansea play Nottingham Forest and Bristol City go to Millwall.

Bournemouth, meanwhile, will be on their mettle with the visit of fourth tier Crawley, who dumped EPL Leeds out at the previous hurdle, albeit with the Saturday clash rescheduled to next Tuesday following a coronavirus outbreak at the League Two club.
