English Premier League predictions, fixtures and results: 16-19 April

Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal all in EPL action. Check out this weekend’s English Premier League fixtures.

It may be a shortened fixture list in the English Premier League this weekend, but there’s no shortage of big names in action as the battle for places at top and bottom builds.

Manchester United have a golden opportunity to close the gap at the top of the EPL when they tackle Burnley at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The pair meet with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side having the chance to reduce their arrears to eight points, with Pep Guardiola’s side in FA Cup semi-final action against Chelsea.

Sean Dyche’s Clarets are looking over their shoulder at the drop zone, meanwhile, with points needed sharpish to avoid a relegation battle.

Arsenal have a London derby on their hands in the other Sunday match, kicking off the day’s action at the Emirates Stadium against Fulham.

The Gunners are looking to sure up their top half credentials, while Scott Parker’s visitors need to arrest their losing run quickly if they are to retain any hope of top flight survival for much longer.

Outgoing champions Liverpool will have to wait until Monday for their chance to elbow their way back into the top four reckoning.

Jurgen Klopp’s side round off the weekend away to Leeds, needing to put their Uefa Champions League disappointment against Real Madrid behind them.

They are likely to have the heat put on them by one of local rivals Everton or Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham, as the pair immediately below the Reds meet on Friday to kick off the Premier League weekend.

A win for either side at Goodison Park will boost their own continental qualification hopes, while piling the pressure on Klopp’s injury-hit side.

West Ham can steal a march on top four rivals Leicester and Chelsea, who are both in FA Cup action, when they travel to Newcastle for the Saturday lunchtime fixture.

It might not be a straightforward appointment at St James’ Park, after Steve Bruce’s men eased their relegation woes with victory at Burnley last weekend.

Wolves and doomed Sheffield United wrap up the programme when they meet at Molineux on Saturday night.
