Africa Cup of Nations predictions, standings & fixtures: Saturday 27 December 2025

Nigeria collide with Tunisia, Senegal meet DR Congo, Uganda play Tanzania and Benin face Botswana in Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday.

Another fascinating quartet of fixtures take the spotlight at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco on Saturday.

Nigeria and Tunisia battle it out for supremacy at the top of Group C, while neighbours Uganda and Tanzania face a scrap to put some points on the board.

It’s a similar story in Group D as opening round victors DR Congo and Senegal meet, with Benin and Botswana both looking to put themselves in the knockout qualification frame.

Group C: Uganda vs Tanzania – 19.30

Uganda and Tanzania meet in the second round of Group C fixtures at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Rabat on Saturday, with both needing to put points on the board.

The underdog pair were both losers in the first round of fixtures on Tuesday.

Tanzania put in a game effort against the might of Nigeria, even equalizing in Fes when Charles M’Mombwa cancelled out an opener from Semi Ajayi, only for Ademola Lookman to score the winner two minutes later.

There was no such luck for Uganda, for whom Tunisia were well out of sight with a three-goal lead when substitute Denis Omedi scored a 92nd-minute consolation.

It means both the Cranes and the Taifa Stars have little room left for error if either is to reach the knockout phase.

Group C: Nigeria vs Tunisia – 22.00

A tantalising 2025 Africa Cup of Nations game sees Nigeria meet Tunisia in Group C at the Complex Sportif de Fes on Saturday.

The former Afcon champions both secured three points in their opening pool matches on Tuesday.

Ademola Lookman scored the winner for the Super Eagles after they had been pegged back by Tanzania following Semi Ajayi’s first half opening goal.

It was much more straightforward for the Carthage Eagles, who made an impressive start to beat Uganda 3-1.

Elias Achouri scored twice in Rabat, after Ellyes Skhiri’s header had settled any early nerves against the Cranes, who netted a consolation goal in second half stoppage time.

Victory for either here would guarantee a spot in the last 16.

Group D: Benin vs Botswana – 14.30

The Group D match between Benin and Botswana sees both sides seeking their first points at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Rabat on Saturday.

Neither were able to spring a surprise in their opening pool fixtures in Morocco earlier in the week.

Benin were always in the contest against DR Congo on Tuesday, but fell to defeat by the only goal as they returned for the first time since 2019, when they reached the quarter-finals.

It was a familiar feeling for the Cheetahs, who narrowly missed out on a shot at qualification for the 2026 Fifa World Cup behind Nigeria and South Africa.

Botswana were always up against it in taking on one of the tournament favourites Senegal.

Zebras keeper Goitseone Phoko was a busy man amid torrential rain in Tangier, keeping the scoreline to a respectable 0-3 as the wait for an Afcon win went on for the minnows.

Group D: Senegal vs DR Congo – 17.00

It’s a heavyweight clash at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday, as the scramble to top Group D continues between Senegal and DR Congo.

The pair were both winners in the opening round of fixtures in Morocco on Tuesday.

And it’s the Teranga Lions who lead the way on goal difference after swatting aside Botswana 3-0 in rain-soaked Tangier.

Bayern Munich loanee Nicolas Jackson scored twice before Cherif Ndiaye added the late gloss to the scoreline having come off the bench.

The Leapords made heavier weather of their first outing in Rabat, but did come through with a 1-0 victory over Benin thanks to Theo Bongonda’s early goal.
