Brighton vs Chelsea: Premier League line-up predictions

Chelsea kick off their new English Premier League season on Monday night as they make the trip south to play Brighton.

Frank Lampard has splashed the cash in the summer transfer window, splurging over ?200million in a bid to improve on last season’s fourth-placed finish.

A couple of the new recruits, Hakim Ziyech and Ben Chilwell, will miss out on the curtain-raiser due to injury, but German duo Kai Havertz and Timo Werner are likely to take their place in the starting line-up for the first time.

The Blues go to the Amex Stadium for the second time in recent weeks, having squeezed in a pre-season friendly on the south coast.

Brighton had a decent first EPL season under boss Graham Potter, who took over from the popular Chris Hughton.

The Seagulls? transfer activity has been much more modest than their opening opponents but they have strengthened in the form of Adam Lallana, with the England international joining on a free transfer from champions Liverpool.

Defender Ben White looks set to start the season in a blue and white shirt, too, after the Sussex club fended off interest from newly-promoted Leeds, whom White starred for on loan last season.
