English Premier League predictions, fixtures and results: 30 September – 2 October 2023

It’s another cracking set of English Premier League fixtures this weekend, as the top flight heads deeper into Autumn with the table starting to take shape.

A top four contest and a London derby are two major highlights for EPL fans to enjoy.

The Saturday late kick off sees a pair of rejuvenated giants go head-to-head at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as Spurs host Liverpool in north London.

Both unbeaten after half a dozen games, Jurgen Klopp’s Reds have begun excellently after an unexpectedly dramatic summer rebuild, while Ange Postecoglou has made a flying to life in the capital since being given the nod to make the move from Glasgow Celtic.

No such green shoots of recovery at Chelsea, no matter how many millions they splash in the transfer market.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are instead looking for just a second victory of the new campaign on Monday night, making the short trip west to Craven Cottage to play neighbours Fulham, who sit three points and three places above the Blues in the standings.

Manchester United remain on the brink of crisis mode despite picking up a first win in three last weekend.

Crystal Palace are the visitors to Old Trafford having lost just once in their last four, with veteran coach Roy Hodgson steering them to a haul one shy of their hosts’ nine points.

Few would bet against reigning champions Manchester City making it a perfect seven when they go to Wolves.

Molineux is the venue as Pep Guardiola’s men set out to extend their winning start in both domestic and continental competition.

Arsenal – the Premier League’s other remaining unbeaten outfit – will also fancy their chances as they pop down to the Dorset coast to meet Bournemouth.

The winless Cherries will have to fight hard to gain anything from their game against Mikel Arteta’s men, who were held to an entertaining North London derby draw last weekend.

We’re also treated to a high quality start to the EPL weekend, when Aston Villa play Brighton in the Saturday lunchtime kick off.

A Villa Park date awaits the duo, with both repeating their outstanding runs to the European qualification places last season and, in the Seagulls case especially, looking like an intriguing bet for a top four tilt.

Newcastle have perked up to win their last two in the league, as well as carving out a draw from a workmanlike performance on their Uefa Champions League comeback away to AC Milan.

They welcome Vincent Kompany’s Burnley to St James’ Park, with the Clarets yet to record a three-point haul since their promotion back to the big time.

West Ham sit above the Toon Army in seventh but have lost their last two.

David Moyes’ charges now do battle in the ‘Tevez – Mascherano Derby’ against Sheffield United at the London Stadium, with the Blades blunted in a whopping 8-0 defeat to the Tynesiders last time out.

Everton and Luton wrap up Saturday’s programme with their Goodison Park fixture.

Sean Dyche and his Toffees finally got off the mark for the new term last weekend, while the Hatters recorded their maiden Premier League point at Kenilworth Road against Wolves.

Just the one Sunday match sees Nottingham Forest tackle Brentford.

The home side have sneaked above the Bees, with Thomas Frank’s side needing to arrest a run of results that sees them without a win in four.
