International Rugby: France vs South Africa – kick off 22.00 SAST

South Africa are out to kickstart their Northern Hemisphere international rugby tour at the second attempt on Saturday night, as they face a crunch date with France in Paris.

The World Cup winners meet the next tournament hosts at the Stade de France with the pair falling either side of narrow opening results last weekend.

Jacques Nienaber’s Springboks were 19-16 losers to World Rugby number one-ranked Ireland at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium.

A late Kurt-Lee Arendse try added a bit of tension to the last few minutes, but the hosts were good value for their victory over the error-prone Boks.

Les Bleus weren’t short on drama on home turf against Australia, with tries from Julien Marchand and Damian Penaud just, but only just, enough to see them to a 30-29 success over the Wallabies.

Willie le Roux returns at full-back as Nienaber seeks out the winning formula, with Cheslin Kolbe expected to take on the kicking duties and Faf de Klerk coming in at scrum-half.

Ox Nche and Bongi Mbonambi are included from kick off in the front row.

French coach Fabien Galthie has pretty well kept faith with the squad that squeaked past the Australians a week ago, although Bastien Chalureau and Reda Wardi are primed to make their debuts from the bench.
