Norwich FC historic record

Norwich recorded their best finish in the Premier League standings in the EPL’s first season, coming third in the league table in 1993.

It took the Norfolk side into European competition for the only time in their history, where they reached the third round stage of the Uefa Cup in the 1993/94 season.

Their 20-year spell in the top flight came to an end in 2006 with relegation to the second tier Championship.

A one-year stint in the depths of the third tier spurred a revival that took the Canaries back to the Premier League in consecutive seasons.

A pair of League Cup triumphs has kept the Carrow Road trophy room ticking over, with a 1962 success followed by their 1985 win.

Norwich have also reached the semi-final stage of the FA Cup on three occasions; in 1992, 1989 and 1959, having never made it as far as the final of the famous old competition.

About Norwich

Norwich City Football Club have been in and out of the English Premier League since its inception in 1992.

The Canaries’ most recent return to the top flight came at the end of the 2018/19 season, when they were crowned champions of the second tier Championship division.

Twice winners of the League Cup, Norwich began the 2019/20 campaign with the goal of surviving another relegation from the EPL under popular German coach Daniel Farke and his youthful squad.

Norwich play their home fixtures at Carrow Road, their stadium since 1935 and one of the more atmospheric in the top flight.

Fans of the club get their teeth into the fierce local rivalry with fellow Anglian side Ipswich, contesting the ‘Old Farm Derby’ whenever they meet.

The club is part-owned by celebrity chef Delia Smith and her husband, Michael Wynn-Jones, while they can count Stephen Fry among their famous fans.
