West Ham historic record

West Ham have never dipped below the second tier of the English Football League since joining the competition for the first time in 1919.

The Hammers have spent most of that time in the top tier of the game, finishing a record high of third in the First Division standings in 1986.

Three FA Cup wins have come West Ham’s way down the years, with the Hammers lifting the famous trophy at Wembley Stadium in 1964, 1975 and 1980.

They have also finished as runners-up twice, most recently in 2006, with two final appearances also coming in the League Cup.

West Ham were also crowned Uefa Cup Winners’ Cup champions on the continent in 1965.

The club also have a proud tradition of developing top quality youth talent, including several of the 1966 England World Cup squad, right up to modern day international soccer legends Rio Ferdinand and Frank Lampard.

About West Ham United FC

West Ham United Football Club are one of several London sides to feature regularly in the English Premier League.

The Hammers have spent just four seasons outside the top flight since the dawn of the EPL in 1992.

West Ham play their home fixtures at the London Stadium, which was built for the Olympic Games in 2012, having moved from their former Upton Park home a few miles away.

There are plenty of Premier League rivalries for Hammers’ fans to get their teeth into, with Tottenham and Chelsea top of the list when it comes to derby clashes.

The move to the Olympic Park has seen an upturn in fortunes for the three-time FA Cup winners, with veteran coach Manuel Pellegrini plotting a solid top half finish heading into the 2019/20 campaign.

West Ham also contributed three players to the World Cup-winning England squad of 1966 in Geoff Hurst, Martin Peters and captain Bobby Moore.
