Wolves historic record

Wolverhampton Wanderers are a football club with serious pedigree, raking up several trophies throughout their history in the English game.

The last of their three Football League championships came in 1949, having also topped the pile in 1908 and 1893.

Wolves are also four-time winners of the FA Cup thanks to a series of successes at Wembley Stadium in 1960, 1949, 1908 and 1893.

Even the League Cup has been kind, with the Black Country side winning the competition in 1974 and 1980.

They even took their knockout exploits on to the continent, reaching the European Cup quarter-finals in 1960 and the semi-finals of the Uefa Cup Winners’ Cup the following season.

Wolves finished runners-up to English rivals Tottenham in the first Uefa Cup final in 1972.

Their Premier League return in 2018 was also a success, as they finished seventh in the EPL standings to qualify for the Uefa Europa League.

About Wolves

Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club caused something of a stir on their return to the English Premier League in 2018 following a spell in the domestic soccer wilderness.

Backed by megabucks owners and boasting a liberal sprinkling of largely Portuguese international talent, Wolves blazed a trail by winning the Championship at a canter before finishing seventh on their top flight comeback to qualify for the Uefa Europa League.

Wolves play their home fixtures at Molineux, their stadium since 1889.

Fans of the Black Country side tend to view West Brom as their main football rivals, with West Midlands duo Aston Villa and Birmingham City also coming in for added attention on the derby front.

The mission for the men in old gold is now to solidify their position in the top half of the Premier League standings, to ensure their latest revival is much more than a flash in the EPL pan.
