Historic record

Baroka FC was founded in 2007, but caught the eyes of the nation when they eliminated Kaizer Chiefs from the Nedbank Cup en route to the 2011 semifinals. Bakgaga won the 2015-16 National First Division title.

During their time in the Premiership, Baroka have had some noteworthy players on their books. Examples include Gift Motupa and Marshall Munetsi.

Bakgaga started the 2017-18 season particularly well, but it ended in tears. Coach Kgoloko Thobejane and key players Oscarine Masuluke and Olaleng Shaku were shown the door amid allegations of drinking on the job.

At least Thobejane did not leave Baroka without giving us one of the greatest quotes in football history: “Football can kill you; it will kill you real death.”

Under Wedson Nyirenda, Baroka won the Telkom Knockout in 2018, shocking Orlando Pirates in the final.
