Bloemfontein Celtic is a Premier Soccer League (PSL) club in the Free State which enjoys tremendous support.
Phunya Sele Sele, as they are affectionately known, have often finished in mid-table, struggling to really break through into the PSL’s top brass. Perhaps this has largely been due to financial problems at the club.
Nevertheless, some impressive players have been on Celtic’s books in recent years, including the likes of Alfred Ndengane, Tshegofatso Mabasa and Lorenzo Gordinho.
Even through financial troubles, Bloem Celtic have always found a way to survive. You can follow their progress by checking Phunya Sele Sele live scores, results and fixtures on our website, as well as PSL Standings.
Bloemfontein Celtic FC was founded as Mangaung United in 1969 before Petrus Molemela bought the club in the 1980s. He eventually sold his shares to Demetri “Jimmy” Augousti in 2001, who in turn sold to Max Tshabalala in 2014.
Bloem Celtic have been a consistent Premiership participant during the PSL era since earning promotion in 2004.
Notably, Phunya Sele Sele finished fifth in 2010-11 and 2012-13. This period of relative success coincided with their 2012 Telkom Knockout triumph.
