Cape Town City is a Premier Soccer League (PSL) club in Cape Town which was formed in 2016 following the purchase of Mpumalanga Black Aces.

They have been hugely successful from the get-go, proving particularly tough to beat in cup competitions.

City have been coached by iconic former footballers in Eric Tinkler and Benni McCarthy. They have earned rave reviews for their playing style during recent years, which is an attack-minded approach to football.

Historic Record

Cape Town City took to the PSL like a duck to water and finished third in the Premiership on the first attempt in 2016-17. They also won the 2016 Telkom Knockout title.

The first season under Benni McCarthy saw a transitional period at the Citizens, but they still made the MTN8 final and finished a respectable fifth in the league.

2018-19 saw City win the MTN8 trophy and finish fourth in the Premiership.

The original Cape Town City played their football as far back as the 1960s.
