Wits

About

Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and even Moroka Swallows may be the historical elite of Johannesburg football, but Bidvest Wits have unsettled the order in recent years.

Wits won their first ever Premiership title in 2016-17, fending off then African champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

Although they were coached by the likes of Roger De Sá, Boebie Solomons and Cliver Barker in the past, the appointment of Gavin Hunt in 2013 proved a turning point for the Clever Boys as he took them from strength to strength.

Bidvest Wits have become one of the most exciting teams to follow and you can keep up to date with their live scores, fixtures, results and position in the PSL standings by staying tuned to our website.

Historic record

Wits lifted the Premiership title for the first time ever in 2016-17, culminating decades of hard work.

The club was formed in 1921 and produced some notable former players, among them Gary Bailey and Richard Gough.

Wits won their first major trophy in 1978, beating Kaizer Chiefs in the final of the Mainstay Cup. They initially enjoyed sporadic success, but became regular title contenders in the 2010s under Gavin Hunt.
