A whole whack of news hit The Sims community on Thursday. The live stream game play of the new Sims 4 Eco Lifestyle expansion pack revealed a lot of info about the upcoming pack and the June patch coming to The Sims 4 base game. From fire fighters to ladders and an overhaul of the bills system – there’s a lot to look forward to for Simmers.
The new world, Evergreen Harbor, will come with two new apartment lots – one of the key features of the new Sims 4 Eco Lifestyle expansion, if you’re a builder.
But as the clock ticks down to the release of the new Sims 4 Eco Lifestyle expansion, we’re here to sniff out answers to all the big questions – without even having access to a pre-release copy. No shade, promise.
Sims 4 Eco Lifestyle: How many lots and apartments?
The new world, Evergreen Harbor, has 15 lots in total ? two of those are apartment lots and there are two apartments in each of those.
Eco Lifestyle apartments: Notable features
The apartments are much smaller than the ones that the City Living expansion. One of the apartments lots also do not have an elevator and can only be accessed with stairs. They?re not massive skyscrapers and look more like a town or suburb type apartments.
Changing the exterior of apartments in The Sims 4 Eco Lifestyle expansion
While one much-requested feature will be coming with the June patch for The Sims 4 base game – that’s being able to place windows and doors freely in build mode, if you missed it – some restrictions will remain in place for the apartments in The Sims 4 Eco Lifestyle.
Changing the exterior of the apartments with fixtures like windows aren’t possible from what we can tell. The exterior will change based on the Sims 4 Eco Lifestyle expansion’s new Eco Footprint UI of your world, though. So, as your world upgrades, the outside of the apartments will change too.
The exterior changes, we imagine, will be similar to all the other changes that can be seen in Evergreen Harbour if you opt for the clean and serene story rather than epic steam punk. See the comparison of the exterior of two other buildings in The Sims 4 Eco Lifestyle below.

No landlords or noisy neighbours
Sims will have to pay rent in these apartments, but the obtrusive bad lot traits that came with City Living aren?t present. There are no landlords either, but Sims will still have to pay rent like they do in the City Living apartments.
Apartments in other worlds
The screens we saw of the Eco Lifestyle apartment lot type shown didn?t seem to be changeable. Keep in mind in the videos we watched, everyone was using an early access beta copy of The Sims 4 Eco Lifestyle expansion.
It’s unlikely, then, that players will be able to build their own apartment buildings in other worlds. For now, anyway. Or who knows, maybe we have another surprise coming.
