While they might have broken the holiday season Sims 4 Expansion Pack tradition in 2021 by not releasing one for the first time since the fourth iteration of the franchise launched, there will be a new Game Pack and at least two new Sims 4 Kits coming to the game in the near future.
Simmers can also look forward to free updates featuring global food items as well as a “community collaborations”, but further details about the new content will be exactly was not available at the time of writing.
The Sims team made the announcement on, yep – you guessed it – Twitter, on Wednesday. The announcement of the new Sims 4 Kits and Game Pack was a sort of mini-roadmap, which included a graphic with some teaser details about what players can expect.
As usual, the graphic did not include any release dates for the newly announced Sims 4 DLC, but simply hinted at what players can look forward to over the next three months.
New Sims 4 Game Pack: Loves to throw a party for love
The introductory text for the graphic said that players can “find their reason to yay” with a game pack that “throws a party for love”. That might reignite the speculation that a wedding planner Sims 4 Game Pack could be in the works.
Last year, speculation about a romance-themed pack went into overdrive, but nothing came of it… yet. The theme of a romance pack has been featured in several Sims 4 surveys over the years.
In the surveys, improvements around weddings have been a consistent theme. Matchmaking ? be that through a Sim or an app for your Sims has also featured quite prominently.
In our previous speculation about a romance theme for the next Sims 4 stuff pack, we cited one previous survey that centred around the theme.
That survey mentioned weddings being ?bigger than ever? and additions like asking Sims? parents for permission to marry as well as throwing a pre-wedding party.
In another survey, weddings cropped up again. Here’s the description from that.
Live out your Sims? wedding fantasies and have the ultimate bachelor or bachelorette party, select and customize the perfect wedding party, and spruce things up with exclusive wedding food and d?cor.
Two other features were also mentioned, the dating app and romantic getaway locations. First, the description for the dating app.
SimMatch Dating App: Help your Sims find their soulmate or a fun fling for the night with the new SimMatch app. Pick out the perfect selfie, fill out their profile, and decide how honest your Sims want to be.
Since a Sim is holding her phone in the graphic, that could very much fit with the dating app gameplay while the functionality added with Dream Home Decorator would work with planning a wedding.
There is even more fuel for the romance / wedding or wedding planner pack speculation fire when you take a closer look at the icons that feature in the background of the roadmap.
An icon that very much represents a wedding cake is repeated a few times on the graphic. A set of rings is also part of the background.
Sims 4 Kits continue
Two new Sims 4 Kits will also be released over the next three months, both of which will “celebrate fierce design” according to first 2022 road map. While that could be interior design or fashion, the latter seems to be the most popular choice if the nine Sims 4 Kits released in 2021 are anything to go by.
There will be free updates too, seemingly including further collabs with players themselves. One of which is expected to be the much anticipated makeover of existing Sim families like the Goth and Caliente family, a project YouTuber and High Priestess of Sims Lore, Plumbella, is consulting on.
No new Sims 4 Expansion Packs or pack refreshes?
One thing the first 2022 roadmap for The Sims 4 did not feature is the suggestion that any of the existing packs would get an overhaul like Spa Day did last year. There is also no mention of a new Sims 4 Expansion Pack, at least not for the foreseeable future. Or the next three months, if you want to be precise.
