An existing Sims 4 Game Pack will soon be given a ‘refresh’. This was revealed during an Inside Maxis Livestream this week. Which pack that might be was not confirmed, but there is reason to believe it might be the Spa Day Game Pack.
During the live stream, the team referred to the update as a “relaxing refresh” – which sounds a bit like something you would do at a Spa, right? Sim Gurus later shared some cryptic messages on Twitter, echoing the refreshing theme.
The date for the update was not confirmed either, but it is something that the team has been working on – or at least considering – since 2020. Back in January last year, a survey asked players which existing packs they’d like to see get some ‘extra polish’.
That survey also asked about winter activities, which might have influenced what became known as The Sims 4 Snowy Escape.
The part of the survey asking about possible updates to existing content, was a simple tick box, rather than an extensive list of what sort of updates that might entail. Results from that survey was never made public either, so there is no way of knowing how many players wanted to see changes to the Spa Day Game Pack.
However, you don’t need to dig too deep to discover that many players have been asking for the Dine Out Game Pack to be given an update, with some Simmers saying they find it ‘unplayable’.
That it is a “refreshing” update for The Sims 4 Spa Day is just speculation, of course. However, perhaps it the refresh is not so much about fixing issues, but rather adding new features or improving with more cross-pack integration.
Things like making Spa Lots ownable or even adding some of the ‘losing’ content from previous community-voted Stuff Packs. It is also possible that this might be the first of several such updates, or so players will hope.
What we do know is that The Sims 4 is working on improving NPCs and Townies, as confirmed during the same Inside Maxis Live Stream. As revealed on the stream:
Hundreds of townies have come to life since the first Sims game launch. A lot of love has been put into every single one of them and we acknowledge that they need unique care and attention ? so it’s about time for a tiny overhaul.
We are currently in the process of updating NPCs in The Sims 4 including visuals as well as their lore. This will take some time to accomplish as we have to spend some time with each and every single Sim from Willow Creek to Henford-on-Bagley. That means we?re taking it step-by-step (or townie by townie) and we?re excited to update you at a later date.

Gotta give credit where it is due, well done to The Sims 4 to finally addressing some of the issues players have been asking for. Even if it has taken seven years, gotta start somewhere.
