The new Sims 4 Stuff Pack, Nifty Knitting, is scheduled for release on 28 July. On Tuesday, the Sim Gurus showed off some of the gameplay and objects in a deep dive live stream. They also revealed that a free base game update prior to the release of the pack will allow Simmers to name their cow plants.
With all new Sims packs, there is always the grim question of whether the pack comes with any new deaths. Knitting seems like a great way to introduce some rather grim fates to Sims, but during the live stream, it was revealed that the Sims 4 Nifty Knitting will come with something that is ?crueller than death?.
There was a little niggle during the live stream which meant that the gameplay of this cruelty couldn?t be shown, but the Sim Gurus did reveal that the Nifty Knitting Stuff Pack will come with ?The Sweater Curse?.
The Sims 4 Nifty Knitting: Sweater Curse
The Sweater Curse is a superstition held by knitters that gifting a hand-knitted sweater to a significant other will lead to a breakup. Other superstitions believe that the relationship will end before the sweater is even finished.
In a 2005 poll, 15% of active knitters said that they had experienced the sweater curse first hand, and 41% considered it a possibility that should be taken seriously.
The suggestion for the Sweater Curse to be added to the Sims 4 Nifty Knitting Stuff Pack was made on the official forums back in January already.
While Simmers will have to wait for the release of the pack to officially explore how this gameplay feature will work, the forum suggestion – and the more widely held superstition – is that the Sweater Curse will only impact a romantic relationship when people aren’t married yet. Sim Gurus wouldn’t possibly be so cruel as to include this curse in married relationships too, would they?
Guess we’ll have to wait to find out when The Sims 4 Nifty Knitting is released.
