Earlier this year, The Sims 4 team released a roadmap of what Simmers can expect from the game in the next six months. The roadmap revealed that Simmers can expect an expansion, stuff and game pack in the near future.
The new expansion pack ? Eco Lifestyle ? has already been announced and the stuff pack is likely to be the community-voted knitted pack, leaving only a game pack to come.
But the roadmap was also revealed at the start of April 2020, which doesn?t take us to the end of the year. That’s left many Simmers wondering about the chances of The Sims 4 getting two expansion packs in 2020.
The Sims 4: Expansion pack releases in 2020
It is not unusual for The Sims to release more than one expansion pack each year. In 2015, Get To Work and Get Together was released in March and December respectively. The following year there was just one expansion, City Living, which was released in November. Cats & Dogs followed the year after – also the only expansion of 2017 and also released in November.
Things changed in 2018, though, with Seasons released in June and Get Famous in November. It was the same in 2019 with Island Living released in June and Discover University in November.
While The Sims 4 team hasn?t said anything ? or even hinted at anything ? beyond the currently released six-month road map, it’s not unreasonable to assume that The Sims 4 will be getting two expansion packs in 2020.
With the first expansion pack, Eco Lifestyle, releasing on 5 June 2020, it seems unlikely that the franchise won?t follow its usual timeline to cash in on the Christmas-gift potential. December is a popular time for games to release their big-ticket items and it’s been no different for The Sims 4 over the last few years.
Unless, of course, something far bigger, like The Sims 5, will be released over December 2020. That, however, remains pure speculation and should remain as such until there is official confirmation from the EA team on when the release date is.
