The Sims 4 released a new Kit this week, but had to respond to player backlash before you could even say micro-transactions to siphon all my money.
As far as controversies for The Sims goes, this is probably relatively minor. Credit where it is due, though. For once, the team responded fairly quickly to the disdain from players.
The Sims 4 Industrial Loft Kit: A window without a view
The ?controversy? for The Sims 4 Industrial Loft Kit window involves what some might call false advertising. Or, if you?re being generous, just advertising.
While Sims 4 Kits have generally been released without much fanfare and the usual fuss of other DLC, they do still get a little teaser prior to release. In the minimalist teaser for The Sims 4 Industrial Loft Kit, a beautiful new window featured quite prominently. In case you missed that teaser, here’s the window in question.

And here is the window that came with the new Sims 4 Kit. Similar, but not the same.

You would think, then, that the window would be part of the Kit, surely. Well, you would be thinking wrong. Players who bought the new Sims 4 Industrial Loft Kit this week did get a window, but not quite the same one as in the teaser.
Now, it is worth noting that renders often take a few artistic liberties, but considering the limited nature of Sims 4 Kits, it was quite a stretch.
Nevertheless, after being asked about it on Twitter, The Sims responded saying the window will be added to the Kit in an upcoming Sims 4 patch, saying: “This cinematic visual was intended to get players excited about the Industrial Loft Kit. Despite some minor – & slightly paneful – hold-ups, we’re happy to share that the window will arrive to the Kit in an upcoming patch update.”
