Uefa Champions League predictions, fixtures and results: 11 – 12 April 2023

It’s the quarter-final stage of this season’s Uefa Champions League this midweek, as the eight remaining European football giants battle it out for a place in the last four.

There are two UCL fixtures apiece on Tuesday and Wednesday night, paving the way for a one-week turnaround to the second legs next week.

And it’s the tournament kings taking centre stage at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday, as Real Madrid go up against 2021 Champions League winners Chelsea.

Los Blancos are eyeing up their 15th European soccer crown and have already dispensed with the Blues’ English Premier League rivals Liverpool in the Round of 16, while their visitors have been in turmoil after sacking coach Graham Potter despite their continental progress.

An Italian derby represents another monster clash on Wednesday, as AC Milan stride out on home turf at the San Siro against Napoli.

The Rossoneri are enjoying their return to the big time and squeezed past EPL side Tottenham in the first knockout round.

But it’s the visitors who start as favourites thanks to their dominant domestic form at the top of Serie A, while they cruised to a 5-0 aggregate victory over Eintracht Frankfurt to reach the UCL last eight.

It’s just as exciting on Tuesday night, with the focus of the football world on matters in England and Portugal.

Manchester City continue their long quest for a European title to go alongside their EPL trophy haul, with 2020 Champions League winners Bayern Munich the visitors to the Etihad Stadium.

A 7-0 second leg battering of another Bundesliga team, RB Leipzig, in the Round of 16 drew the headlines for coach Pep Guardiola, as he attempts to overturn his former club.

But the Bavarians weren’t too shabby either in cruising past the forlorn challenge of Paris Saint-Germain to secure a berth in the quarters yet again.

An intriguing contest completes the draw in Portugal meanwhile, as impressive Benfica face the task of a third Italian last eight qualifier in Inter Milan.

Inter have already knocked out Portuguese opposition in the shape of FC Porto, while Club Brugge were no match for the home side, subsiding to a 7-1 aggregate loss in the first knockout round.
