The English Premier League reaches matchweek four and we’re into full swing, with last season’s most successful sides switching back into domestic mode after their first round of Uefa Champions League fixtures in midweek.

Wall to wall football then – and it gets even better with Sunday’s derby battle between Manchester United and Manchester City at Old Trafford.

Enzo Maresca’s City have opened up with a perfect start to sit top of the embryonic table on goal difference.

It’s been a stutter rather than a stroll for their hosts thus far, who have just one win to show for their early efforts and with boss Michael Carrick having to make do and mend following an iffy transfer window.

Three points are Saturday’s minimum requirement at Anfield, with visitors Fulham already feeling the heat thanks to three consecutive EPL defeats.

Tottenham are only a point better off as Everton visit north London for the evening kick off.

Coach Roberto de Zerbi has already been forced to plead for patience as a massive summer of spending is yet to result in three points on the Premier League board.

The Toffees had quite the opposite transfer problem, not least in a comically bad end to the window to leave veteran chief David Moyes spitting feathers.

But the wily old Scot has nevertheless put together an unbeaten start as they look to build on last season’s steady improvement at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Another pair of under-pressure strugglers go head-to-head in the second city, with Aston Villa hosting Nottingham Forest.

Victory has eluded both so far to leave them at the wrong end of the standings, with Villa coach Unai Emery looking to keep up the heroics while opposite number Oliver Glasner beds in across the Midlands.

The Monday night EPL fixture is a northern affair, as Leeds go up against Newcastle.

Both have a win and two draws to kick off the new campaign, as cautious optimism begins to grow in West Yorkshire and on Tyneside, despite the shock exit of Eddie Howe.

Sunday’s other game sees Coventry try again to pick up their first points since winning promotion as champions of the Championship four months ago.

It’ll be easier said then done with dangerous Brighton the visitors to the Coventry Building Society Arena.

Two more matches on Saturday include a moneyball match up between Bournemouth and Brentford.

Marco Rose is still seeking his first league victory since replacing Iraola in the Vitality Stadium hotseat, while the overachieving Bees are still unbeaten three games into Keith Andrews’ second season in charge.

Crystal Palace and Ipswich face off at Selhurst Park, with both the Eagles and the Tractor Boys out to chalk up a second win of the new term.
