English Premier League predictions, fixtures and results: 25 – 27 November 2023

It’s time for the big festive push in the English Premier League, as the top flight returns this weekend after the last international football break of the year.

And what a return it is, as top two Manchester City and Liverpool collide in what has become one of the EPL’s most hotly anticipated fixtures in recent years.

The North West rivals kick off the top flight weekend in the Saturday lunchtime match at the Etihad Stadium.

Both have won three of their last four, too, as they head towards the hectic festive period neck-and-neck with just a point between them at the summit.

Arsenal are level on 27 points with the second-placed Reds and head across London to meet Brentford in the Saturday evening kick off.

The Gunners bounced back from their only defeat of the season last time out, while their hosts saw a three game winning run come to a shuddering halt.

Sunday sees the other half of a quadrangular affair at the western end of the M62 motorway, as Manchester United make the short trip to Everton.

The blue half of Merseyside was rocked during the international break by news of a points deduction for financial fair play irregularities.

It plunged Sean Dyche’s side back into the relegation zone despite their vastly improved form on the pitch.

United fans will hope boss Erik ten Hag has put the blank weekend to good use, as the Red Devils look to solidify their top six status.

Sunday’s other match is quite the prospect as well, with Tottenham playing host to Aston Villa.

It’s fourth versus fifth in north London and yet another game with just a point splitting the pair, who are right behind the top three in the standings.

Newcastle and Chelsea will both be seeking some impetus as domestic football resumes, with the pair facing off at St James’ Park on Saturday.

The Toon Army have one win in three and the Blues just one in their last four, as both eye a nudge up towards the European qualification places.

Drama also abounds at the wrong end of the Premier League table on Saturday.

Sheffield United host fellow strugglers Bournemouth at Bramall Lane, with both hoping their tentative improvements before the break can continue in the battle to beat the drop.

Burnley are the EPL’s bottom club as things resume, as Vincent Kompany’s men welcome West Ham to Turf Moor.

David Moyes’ Hammers ended their winless run a fortnight ago, sneaking themselves back into the top half.

And there’s another opportunity for minnows Luton to make fortress Kenilworth Road count, with Crystal Palace the visitors.

The Hatters are just the right side of the dotted line coming into the weekend, while the Eagles could climb several places with victory in Bedfordshire.

Brighton are eighth despite their long winless Premier League run under Roberto de Zerbi.

They will back themselves to collect three precious away points, though, when they travel to out-of-sorts Nottingham Forest.

There’s also a Monday night football game to round off the long weekend of EPL action, when Fulham take on Wolves.

The pair meet at Craven Cottage with their hosts looking for a first win in four against Gary O’Neill’s steadily improving Black Country side.
