Fifa World Cup Qatar 2022 predictions, fixtures, group standings and results: Tuesday 29 November

It’s time for the first two pools to be decided at the 2022 Fifa World Cup in Qatar on Tuesday.

The Netherlands are looking good to progress from Group A ahead of their clash with Qatar, leaving the tie between Ecuador and Senegal as a likely shootout for the second qualification place.

England are similarly well placed as they face underwhelming neighbours Wales, while the USA and Iran meet knowing a knockout spot is guaranteed if either can force a win.

Group A: Ecuador vs Senegal – 17.00

Ecuador meet Senegal in the final round of Group A fixtures at the 2022 Fifa Word Cup, in what should be a straight shootout for knockout qualification.

With the Netherlands expected to see off eliminated hosts Qatar, it’s all or nothing for this pair.

The South Americans have the edge if the decider ends in a draw, having held the Dutch to a draw after beating the host nation in the opening match of the tournament.

It means only a win will realistically do for the Lions of Teranga, who are shaking off the loss of star man Sadio Mane in their bid to live up to their billing as champions of Africa.

Group A: Netherlands vs Qatar – 17.00

The Netherlands have qualification for the Round of 16 firmly in their sights as they meet Qatar in the Fifa World Cup on Tuesday.

Louis van Gaal’s side are out to pile on the misery for the host nation, who are only the second after South Africa in 2010 to be dumped out of their own tournament at the first hurdle.

Ecuador have managed to make the Dutch work for their rewards, thanks to a 1-1 draw leaving the men in orange far from certain of finishing top of their pool.

And it’s back to the drawing board for the Qataris whatever happens, as the Gulf minnows scratch around for any crumbs of comfort.

Group B: Iran vs USA – 21.00

Knockout qualification is on the line as Iran meet the United States of America in the Fifa World Cup on Tuesday night in Qatar.

West meets east with the Iranians knowing a draw could well prove sufficient to see them through to the Round of 16.

That’s thanks to the late heroics of Roozbeh Cheshmi and Ramin Rezaeia, whose injury time goals put Group B rivals Wales on the brink of elimination.

The States, meanwhile, went largely unrewarded for a bright performance against heavyweights England, making it two draws from two after they coughed up a winning position against the Welsh in their pool opener.

Group B: Wales vs England – 21.00

Neighbours are at war in the final round of Group B fixtures at the 2022 Fifa World Cup on Tuesday, as pool favourites England take on Wales.

A stodgy performance against the USA on Friday night will have left Gareth Southgate and his Three Lions relieved to have come away with a draw.

It knocked the wind out of English sails after their 6-2 thumping of Iran in their opening fixture.

But the Welsh haven’t yet left the harbour, despite Gareth Bale giving them hope in rescuing a point against the States before they subsided to defeat at the hands of Iran.
