The Sims 4 base game has a few hidden features that can take your builds to the next level. You don’t need any custom content or mods and you don’t need to be a super experienced builder either.
You can even “create” – or at the very least, dramatically alter – your own base game
worlds thanks to some of the live edit objects in the game’s debug mode.
You might have seen the infinity pool build for expansion packs, but there is a way to replicate it in The Sims 4 base game, too.
You will need to use a few cheats to get it to work, but they are all standard Sims 4 cheats. If you are new to The Sims 4 or you?re not familiar with cheats, check out our Sims 4 cheating starter guide.
Once you have enabled cheats, these are the build cheats you?ll need to use:
- bb.moveobjects
- bb.showhiddenobjects
- bb.showliveeditobjects
Sims 4 base game build tutorial: Glass pool with a rock fountain
Start by paving the area you want your glass pool and deck to be. Then, add your pool and raise it to the level you want, adding the deck around it.
You will also need to draw a fence around the pool (you will remove it later on) so that the foundation you?re going to use only applies itself to the pool area. If you are going to use the window method for the pool trim (you’ll read more about that later), it’s best if you draw a wall.
If you have enabled cheats correctly, you should see a plain grey foundation between the stilts. This is the transparent foundation. Select it and apply it to the pool section.
Remember that the fence still needs to be applied, otherwise it will cover the whole area. You should see the pool area turn transparent.
This foundation type will cause some clipping around the pool corners. You have a few options to cover it up. You can use any debug items or plants. Or, if you just have one or two sides of your pool made of ?glass? ? you can use the rock fountain option in the corners.
To build a rock fountain, go down a level and stack some rocks on top of each other. You can resize them using the [ and ] keys and move them up and down using 9 and 0 in build mode.
Once you?re happy, place some spouts hidden inside and you should get the fountain effect.
The other option for the clipping is to use windows. You will need to build a wall around the pool’s edges and place the windows slightly below the pool’s trim.
Once you?re happy with their placing (and you have added the ?glass? foundation) simply click to remove the wall. The different swatch of the windows can actually enhance the look of your pool a bit, too.
