How to build a pond in The Sims 4 base game without CC

This will be a sweet and short tutorial for how to build a pond in The Sims 4 base game. Or rather, as close to something that resembles a pond as we can currently get with the build tools in The Sims 4.

You can build a pond in The Sims 4 base game without using custom content. You will have to use some of the basic Sims build cheats, but nothing too drastic.

Cheats you will need for a Sims 4 base game pond

Before you start building your pond, you will need to turn on these cheats to make the most out of your build.

  • bb.moveobjects
  • bb.showhiddenobjects
  • bb.enablefreebuild (if you are building on a locked community lot)
  • bb.showliveeditobjects

Start by using the pool tool in build mode to draw out the shape of your pond. Adding sharp corners and different angles can help make it look a bit more rustic.

If you want a more sophisticated pond, then go ahead and just draw a normal shape.

Once you have drawn the pool, it is time to start decorating your pond. First, you can paint the floor and the walls of the pool if you only have the Sims 4 base game. This will give the water a slightly less sparkly colour.

To give your pond a more, erm, pond-like look and feel, use objects from the debug object catalogue. Place reeds and other such landscape items around the corner of the pond and fill the base with logs and plants.

To create a floating effect form plants, use the 9 and 0 keys to refine the placement of your items. You can also use the Sims 4 resize objects build cheat to play around with creating different dimensions for your pond.

If you want to add a ?waterfall? to your Sims 4 base game pond, stack some rocks on top of each other. Again, using the resize build cheat can help add some dimension.

Once you have stacked the rocks, add some fountain spouts. Play around with different ones, add them in different places on the rocks and stack them if you want your pond to have a fuller waterfall.

Finally, if you want your pond to spawn fish, you can place one of the fishing signs form debug mode at the bottom of your pool. You can resize the sign and hide it underneath plants to that it is not visible.

If you want your pond to light up at night, place some lights inside the pool and around the edge of the pond.
