Surprise live stream recap: New free content coming to The Sims 4

A surprise Sims 4 live stream that might include a surprise? Okay, we're listening... and watching.

Sims 4 Hispanic History Month Free Content Update 1

Update: To see the new content that will be coming to the Sims 4 base came in the next free update read our article here.

The Sims 4 announced that the team will host a live stream on 5 October 2020 at 11:00 Pacific Time. That?s 20:00 SAST or 18:00 GMT for those in other parts of the world.

The main theme of the live stream will be a celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month in the United States. The stream will be live on The Sims Twitch channel.

But wait, there?s more. Or at least, there might be.

Global community manager for The Sims, Sim Guru Frost (or The Still Redacted One as he has become affectionally known), shared the announcement saying “maybe” there will be some surprises.

Sim Guru Ninja, a senior producer on the game, replied saying he’ll pause puppy cam (a reference to his doggie’s most adorbs babies) for the stream.

What could these surprises possibly be? The Sims 4 will begin rolling out its two-phased skin tones update on 6 October 2020 (first for PC then for console in November).

The first update – for which you need to enable “Uncompressed Sim Textures” – will only update existing skin tones and hairstyles. Later in the year, a second update will add a slider for additional customisation and lots more skin tones.

But, as has been noted, the first update for skin tones is a “behind-the-scenes update to address blotchy artefacts and ashy appearance of darker skin tones” – and Sim Guru Frost said that there will be “nothing about skin tones” in the live stream.

The Sims 4 set for another expansion pack – the theme of which is yet to be revealed. We have a wild speculation that it might be something like a “create your own town” type of pack, but it really could be anything.

Recently, Sim Gurus were tweeting up a storm about all sorts of food, leading to additional speculation that the expansion pack might be a reality-TV pack with a cooking competition as one of the gameplay features.

Oh, and in case you were hoping for a ‘free the Sims 4 baby’ update, Sim Guru Frost already shot down that idea over on Twitter. Guess we’ll all have to watch to find out, then. You can do that over on The Sims Twitch channel or right here.
