The Sims 4: Real or shells – can you tell debug buildings apart?

Sims 4 Shell Building Illusion Or Real

The Sims 4 player base has some incredibly talented builders who aren?t scared to take on incredibly ambitious projects. Like this builder who was inspired by Cape Town’s Mount Nelson.

But what if you could create some pretty impressive looking buildings without needing the time, patience or skills to actually build anything?

No, we are not referring to downloading builds from the gallery, we are talking about all the building shells that you can find in debug in The Sims 4.

Sims 4 build mode: The magic of debug building shells

We have previously noted that the September Sims 4 update added a load of building shells to the game. These are all accessible through the liveedit/debug cheat.

The buildings aren?t entirely new, you?ll probably recognise most of them from the neighbourhoods in your game.

The addition of these buildings is one of the main reasons we have a theory that the new Sims 4 expansion pack could have a ?create your own town? theme.

The shells are not usable as objects, obviously. Not currently anyway. The shells are not usable as objects, obviously. Not currently anyway. Who knows what might happen to them in future. Perhaps they could become mini rabbit holes for players to create their own university campus in every Sims 4 world.

Hey, we can dream, right? If a modder can make it possible with the upcoming Brookheights open-world expansion, we can dream of possibilities for The Sims 4.

So, how realistic are these building shells from debug mode? Let’s take a look at some of them. Can you tell which of these are building shells and which are actual builds?

Eagle-eyed Sims 4 players who spend a lot of time in build mode will probably be able to pick the shells out of a line up quite easily. If you guessed that all of these are buildings are debug shells, you guessed correctly.

So, if you want to create your own townhouse effect but you don’t have the will or time to furnish and build every single house on the “street” yourself, just dig into debug.

Happy Simming!
