The Sims 4 have shared a first look preview at the new skin tones and customisable slider coming to the base game in a free update in December.
In an extensive blog post, published on official Sims website, the team shared details about when the new skin tone update will be released (8 December, by the way) as well as some screenshots of how these swatches will look.
“Every skin tone will have a value slider to unlock thousands of more customizable options. In addition, we?ll make compression improvements to make both new and existing skin tones display better, including strengthening the quality of suntans and sunburns,” the blog post said.
Sims 4 base game also getting make up sliders
The Sims team also revealed that the base game will be getting sliders to customise make-up with the same update.
“[The update will see ] the introduction of four makeup sliders to more freely complement all skin tones,” the blog post added.
There will also be further improvements to existing base game hairstyle, specifically, ” two children’s hairstyles?the braided ponytail with baby hairs and the braided ponytail without baby hairs?and the flat-top texture hairstyle”.
The blog post, clear, concise and honest, marks a refreshing change to the communication (or lack thereof) which has been frustrating many Sims players this year.
In recent months, players have expressed their concerns over what they feel is a lack of transparency from The Sims 4 team, but communication seems to be heading in the right direction.
Most recently, the Sims 4 moved quickly to address concerns raised by South Korean players over certain gestures and imagery in the upcoming Snowy Escape expansion pack.
The Sims team vowed to continue striving to ensure “representation in The Sims 4 is more inclusive”.
One of the ways the team say this is being done is by working with EA Game Changers from diverse background.
“It was their suggestion to add additional hairstyles without baby hairs in the December update, which is why there are three rather than the two we previously announced,” the team added.
