Sims 4 releases patch to address November game crash issues

Sims 4 Stability Patch Released

A new Sims 4 patch is out to address crash issues which started after the November Snowy Escape base game update.

The Sims 4 have released a hotfix to address the issues with the game crashing after the November 2020 update.

Players across all platforms reported that their games were randomly crashing after the base game update ahead of the Snowy Escape expansion pack last week.

While the team worked on a fix, a temporary workaround which involved disabling in-game audio was recommended. If you used that fix, remember to turn your game audio back on after updating with the stability patch.

If The Sims still crashes after the November stability patch

Sim Guru Nick, a quality designer for The Sims 4, suggested that players who are still experiencing crashes after the stability patch follow these steps.

  • If the game is still crashing: shut down Origin completely and restart it.
  • If you are stuck with your load screen on loop: Repair the game via Origin.

Players can also try clearing their game’s cache, but if the error persists after attempting all of the fixes mentioned above, report the problems on the EA Help HQ forums.

How to clear The Sims 4 cache

Navigate to your game files ? usually located at Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/ on both PC and Mac.

1. Delete the localthumbscache.package file in this directory.?
2. Go inside the cache folder and delete all files that end in .cache. DO NOT? delete the actual directory.

You can also delete all the files in the cachestr folder, but don’t delete the folder itself. Deleting the  spotlight.package file is okay.
