A new update for The Sims 4 added over 1000 new swatches to objects for the base game this week.
First teased on Monday as part of a roadmap for upcoming content, it’s not quite the colour wheel some had hoped or speculated it might be, but it is a marked improvement on the options available to players.
The free base game update for The Sims 4 was released on Tuesday, adding new variations to 149 Build/Buy items in the game.
Everything from curtains to mirrors, stoves, couches, floors and windows got a few fresh swatches. The update also included a few new Create-a-Sim assets ahead of the release of new Sims 4 Kits set to be released on 5 October 2021.
In the official patch notes for this Sims 4 update, Sim Guru Russkii explained:
Our art team took over this Game Update and they have added about 1,200 new variants (yes, you read me correctly, about 1,200 variants) to 149 Base Game items in Build Mode. The Art Team’s vision was to complement and enhance these assets so Simmers have more choices and have more use out of them. Also, why not?
There was just one bug fix as part of this new update, similar to the update released at the end of last month.
Useful as the update to the swatches might be, it certainly has not taken the shine away from another bit of Sims 4 news released on the same day. Modder TwistedMexi revealed the trailer for his upcoming Create a World Mod, codenamed Project Raven.

Notably absent from the list, though, is the elusive window-that-was-not from the Sims 4 Industrial Loft Kit.
