As many expected after the latest Sims 4 update earlier this week, the franchise is now offering free trials of its DLC. Following the April 2021 patch, a little dig through the game code revealed that Sims 4 Trials were in the works and the first one has now arrived.
On Friday, The Sims announced on Twitter that The Sims 4 City Living Expansion was free to try for the weekend. This might be what all those hints about [redacted] Sims in [redacted] worlds were about recently. Or it might not, there was still that whole deleted Tweet about the full moon that Sim Guru Ninja said was not a hint, but still, sent everyone into hyperfocus speculation drive.
For the time being, The Sims 4 City Living free trial is only available through Origin – and only for the weekend beginning 30 April 2021.
The description on Origin reads:
Live it up in the city (for free*!) for a limited time!
The trial is currently available only through Origin. – The trial is free. No strings attached or surprise charges. – Enjoy the entire pack during the trial period. – You can try the trial content with an existing game saved and it will make a copy of it (so it won?t overwrite your original game save). Or you can make a completely new game save. – The trial will expire on Monday 05/03/21 at 10:00 AM PT (17:00 UTC). – Once expired, trial saves will still be available but will play best with the pack.
Take The Sims? 4 City Living Expansion Pack* out on the town for a limited time!
You still need to own a copy of The Sims 4 base game in order to take advantage of the free trial. That currently on sale at 75% off on the South African Origin store, putting the price at just under R150 (around US$9.99).
