Please note that EA has not confirmed anything at this point. But they haven’t flat out denied anything either. There is a ton of speculation – as there always is with expansion packs. We will update as soon as EA comments. The image for this article is from The Sims 3 University expansion.
Fans of The Sims 4 have been treated to a glut of expansions in 2019.
The eagerly anticipated Island Living landed in the middle of the year followed by a Stuff Pack and a game pack in the form of Realm of Magic. Now, there is a rumour that yet another Sims 4 expansion pack could be coming as soon as November 2019.
The Sims 4 University expansion: What we know
What we know is that EA has not commented on anything.
We also know that things are following a seemingly similar pattern to how the build-up for Island Living went. And that the EA team was hiring in the same way as they did ahead of previous expansion packs.
We also know that there is has been a lot of chatter and so-called “leaks” which have followed similar patterns to other expansions being released.
The Sims 4 Discover University (as it is currently being called) would be expansion pack eight in the franchise. The rumours that The Sims 4 could be getting a university expansion pack started when a Target employee (@Christophuck) posted an image on Twitter. The screenshot seemingly suggested that Target’s inventory information contained the name of The Sims 4?s next expansion pack and its release date.
More recently, a listing appeared online – similar to the “leaks” that preceded the release of Island Living. In fact, two “pre-order” websites have listed The Sims 4 University expansion pack.
The Sims 4 University: Release date
The release date in all the leaks suggests that The Sims 4 University expansion will be released on 15 November. This timeline would fit with other patterns of expansions released in November.
City Living was released on 1 November 2016, Cats & Dogs was released on 10 November 2017. But, perhaps most strikingly, the last time The Sims released two expansion packs in one year – back in 2018 – the first of that year (Seasons) was released in June. Get Famous followed on 16 November 2018.
Island Living was released on 21 June this year? and The Sims 4 University? Well, we’ll have to wait and see.
All the leaks have been consistent with two things: each listing has had the same name for the expansion pack name and the same release date.
EA has not said anything, but eagle-eyed Simmers have also noted that there might be some hints lurking in the new Sims families recently released by Maxis.
Fingers crossed! We’ll keep you in the loop.
