In October, The Sims 4 will begin its two phased approach of rolling out a huge update to in-game skin tones.
The update to the game’s skin tones will begin with fixes to existing skin tones on 6 October for PC and 10 November for consoles.
The first update in October will fix issues with existing skin tones and hairstyles. According to an update from the Sims 4 team, this will deal specifically with ?improving the blotchy artefacts and ashy appearance of darker skin tones?.
In December, a much larger update will add ?at least a hundred new skin tone swatches in cool, neutral, and warm tones? as well as a slider to customise new and existing skin tones.
How to get The Sims 4 skin tones update in October
To ensure that you get the October update in your game on PC, players on mid to high spec machines need to make sure they tick a specific setting in their game.
With the announcement, the team shared that the October skin tones update will only be visible to players who are running their game with the ?Uncompressed Sim Textures? turned on.
This is not default setting on many games, so players need to make sure they turn it on in order to receive the update.
