Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Meet services around the world have been hit by an outage. Users from Australia, Japan, South Africa, India, Malaysia and parts of the United States have all reported issues.
Many could not log into their Gmail accounts at all. For others, emails weren’t showing up, others said they could not add attachments and Google Drive had issues with uploading new files.
The issues started around 4:40 GMT on 20 August 2020. Google later confirmed the issue on its dashboard.
At the time of writing, the most recent update was at 11:40 South African time. Google said:
Gmail service has already been restored for some users, and we expect a resolution for all users in the near future. Please note this time frame is an estimate and may change.
